Map Type is one of the options that you can select in the basic set-up of your game. There also is in a random map type.

| Continents | This feels like home and creates an Earthlike world, with several continents and small islands. |
| Fractal | This is an unpredictable world with many small and/or large landmasses. |
| Inland Sea | A giant ocean is in the center of this map. (From all 4 sides has impassable Map border.) |
| Island Plates | Large, medium, and small islands populate this world. |
| Pangea | One huge continent and smaller islands are created. |
| Shuffle | Randomly generates parts of the map. |
